This third blog post of the day is about... love ♥

“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.”

I found this quote on the internet. I don't know who it's by, but I love it because it reminds me of all my lovely friends that bring out the best in me :)

Note to future husband....

I've just been looking at Tiffany & Co's website. Ahhh, pretty jewelry.... :)

16 going on 17

Hello there. It's my birthday in less than two weeks, so I'll finally be able to do magic outside of the school. How exciting :) my friends and I are all going to see the new Alice in Wonderland on the 6th of March. I can't wait!!

Seeing as we're going out to the movies, I'm not expecting any presents from anyone (except my parents..), but a couple people have asked me what I want for my birthday ... sigh.

So, if you're one of those people insistent on getting me a gift, I'm just going to list a couple of things I wouldn't mind getting on my 17th, to help you out. Not to mention that mom reads my blog, so she'll see this list... Hehehe.

- John Mayer's first CD, Room for Squares
Jewelry:
- Earrings (studs, preferably, as I'm getting another piercing soon)
- Sautoir necklaces (pics here and here, but that second one is actually ridiculously expensive lol)
- Rings (but I'm not one for a ring triple the size of my knuckle, just so you know... :P )

- Posters of movies I like, or something else cool to hang on my bedroom wall
- ipod earphones
- An idea for a novel or a short film. Pretty please? I'm feeling very un-inspired....

There. Haha, now if anyone else asks me, I don't have to stammer and mumble, 'uhh... I don't know...'

Other ridiculously expensive things I wish I could get, but seeing as they are ridiculously expensive I won't be seeing them until a few years after I get a job, and I thought I'd just list them here because I like making lists:

- A video camera
- Final Cut Pro
- An iphone
- A Maton pick-up guitar
- A macbook

Expensive tastes and unemployment don't really go together.

Pi is of the devil....

I hate homework! It keeps me from seeing my friends ... haha yeah, I'm talking about their homework not mine.

(sorry the pic is small, if you can't read it you can see it better on the site I got it from, plus others: http://www.grymonpre.com/math/chmath.htm)

100 Blogs :D

Celebrating my 100th blog post is my new header picture, which I made myself, depicting a small bit of my awesome life, made awesome by some of my spectacularly amazing friends. I had about 100 more photos I would've liked to fit on here, but alas, the human eye can only take in so many images at once, and I wanted to make them big enough for you to see. I may change the photos from time to time if I can be bothered. Hope you like it.

I'm in repair, I'm not together but I'm getting there....

If you don't talk to me soon, I half hope you don't show up. Because you really don't know how much you're hurting my heart.

So I saw
Whip It
yesterday. I liked it. It was a fun movie - not amazing, but still good.

Directed by Drew Barrymore and starring Ellen Page, Whip It is about Bliss Cavendar, a 17-year-old 'indie' girl with a mother who tries to make her an elegant young lady by forcing her into many-a-beauty-pageant. Indie chicks don't dig that sort of stuff. Bliss stumbles across a roller derby event in Austin, and gets hooked on the idea of joining this motley crew of derby-rollers.... I've forgotten the name of their team. Sorry.

The film includes all the stereotypical archetypes of a teenage movie; I've mentioned Bliss already as the indie protagonist, and here she is pictured with Pash, her BFF - they work at this diner that sells this huge burger called the Squealer ... eat it in three minutes and it's free. Probably one of my favorite characters in the film due to her being one of the most fleshed-out, Pash is Bliss's one-man (woman?) support crew outside of the rollerskating team itself. She's your typical You-break-her-heart-I'll-break-your-face kind of best friend, and the fact that she can drive comes in handy when Bliss needs to get to the roller derby. They have their ups and downs throughout the film, as expected.

Then there's the *swoon* cute blond boy who can play the guitar and sing indie songs. This is so cliche it's cringe-worthy ... in fact, most if not all of the scenes between Bliss and Oliver are cringe-worthy. I fast-forwarded some of them ... let's just say that frolics in hay fields and underwater kissing scenes are not my thing. Unless they're in a film by Baz Luhrman.
The only bit between this clunky couple that made me smile was when Bliss and Pash first catch sight of the cute blond boy and Pash shoves Bliss almost into his arms, calling out, 'Don't say I never gave you anything!' At least she meant well.

Next up we have .... IRON MAVEN. The bad-guy, basically. She is unfortunately underdeveloped and her best move is shutting Bliss in a locker in one of their first meetings. Yeah.

Other stereotypical characters include the Mother-who-just-doesn't-understand-her-teenager, the Mentor - (a fellow rollerskater played by Kristen Wiig), the comic relief (yes, I'm talking about Drew Barrymore smashing her face into a pole and breaking her nose), and the I'm-joking-no-actually-I'm-not-but-that-was-sarcasm coach of the team.

So, I've said a lot about how typical the characters are, but the movie is totally a lot of fun. The energetic performances are complemented by a cool indie soundtrack featuring ... er ... a bunch of nifty bands I don't actually know anything about. Anyway.

There's a lot to like about this film. The leading lady is young, but she’s tough. The best part is the girls don’t cry when they get slogged in the guts. High fives all round for being tough cookies. But just three stars.

Kristy ♥

I don't think very many people read this blog ... I have five followers, not including my parents, so I'm going to guess I about nine people read this blog, with maybe three or four of them being regulars.

So, there's not many of you, but for those of you out there who are reading, I just wanted to let you know how awesome my friend Kristen is. She reads this blog, so that makes her awesome, but that's slightly from the point.

I've know Kristen since I was seven. That's ten years! That makes me happy. Kristen is awesome because she is my bestest friend, I can always count on her and tell her anything, and she loves me for who I am.

I hope you're all as blessed as me and have an awesome friend you can count on.

Kristen likes reviews. I like reviews too. So if I was going to review Kristen I'd give her ✭✭✭✭✭, 5 stars. Because she's just that incredible. In fact, I'd give her 6 but ... it just doesn't work that way....

I love you Kristy!

iGirls

I found this on facebook. So, these girls are like, friends of a friend of a friend. Or something. Due to the fact that you can't really tell who they are because they're painted black, I'm giving myself the ok to post their picture on my blog. Personally I think it's an honor to appear here, so congratulations random iGirls, you have made it into Smash My Typo. Let's pretend that's a really cool thing.

I do not measure my love!

And now I will show you the most excellent way.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Speaking of babies....

Here is my brand new second-cousin Bella Rose. Ain't she cute?

Time came a creeping, oh time's a loaded gun....

Time goes so fast! It seems like only yesterday that Evie Grace, my youth leader's daughter, was born. Here she is at two days old:

And here she is now! She's 1 and a half.

Isn't she just perfectly angelic?

I love her.

Another thing, my brother is turning 14, and he is having a murder mystery party. I turned 14 three years ago and I did a murder mystery party then. My friends are still talking about it, so it feels like it was only last year or something! Except that I'm, well ... older.

Last time we went to the USA I was 12. That was 5 years ago. We're planning on going back again soon, which will be awesome, because when I was 12 I was still quite the tomboy and could not appreciate clothes/swimmer shopping in Hawaii and California and the neat jewelry in Nevada and Arizona. Plus I can go on the biggest rides at Disneyland now.

But I still remember the last trip so clearly! Here's a couple of pics. I have new camera now, so can't wait to take thousands of awesome photos when we make the trek to the Homeland again.

LOOK HOW TANNED MY BROTHER IS!! Hahaha. I love it.

God is listening!

In recent months I read a book by John Dickson called "Promoting the Gospel". It's a great book. I picked it up again just now because I remember a story the author told about his childhood. He knew a lovely elderly lady who used to babysit him and his brothers since they were young. John's father had died when he was nine; every day since then, Elsie had prayed for John, his mother and his two brothers, asking the Lord to bring them into his kingdom.

John Dickson is a christian now. And so is his brother Jamie. Isn't that amazing? The prayer and encouragement of one woman brought two people into God's kingdom! Maybe more.

I know another story like this one. Told to me in a sermon by Josh Apieczonek, who spoke at LiT camp. He said that at his church they have these cards on the pews where church members and new people can write their details and prayer points. Josh knew a girl who wrote a prayer point on one of these cards every week. And every week she asked for the same thing - prayer for her father, who was not a christian. So Josh prayed for the girl's father every single week.

Some time later, in an open prayer at church, this girl prayed aloud and thanked God that her father had become a Christian.

I am just stunned by these amazing acts. Devotion to prayer and faith in God. And I am even more stunned by God's overwhelming care and power. He listens. And, His will be done, our prayers will be answered.

We all have non-christian friends. I know you'd love them to come to Christ. But I'm sure you can think of at least one person who you are convinced could never become a Christian. Don't doubt! Have faith in God. Commit to prayer for this person, and if it be God's will, that person could join the kingdom.

For, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). That means everyone. So it also means that anyone can come to Christ. If you are with Christ, then there is every chance your non-christian friend can be too.

So pray! Pray every day if you can. And have faith like in God. 'Jesus replied, "...you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'move from here to there', and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."' - Matthew 17:20-21

Private Reiben: What's the saying? "If God's on our side, who the hell could be on theirs?"
Upham: "If God is for us, who could be against us?"
Reiben: Yeah, what'd I say?

So I watched Saving Private Ryan for the first time yesterday.

Wow. Steven Spielberg ... I knew he was good, I've seen stacks of his movies, but this one... If you haven't seen this movie, you have to. The cinematography is stunning. In this one scene, Tom Hanks's character Miller has been given the task of finding Private Ryan. He's talking to Sergeant Horvath, and he says, 'Finding Ryan - it's like looking for a needle in a stack of needles' and as he says this, the camera is panning to the left, across this sea of men dressed in green, and you can hear Tom Hanks talking, but you're thinking 'where the heck is he?' Seriously cool cinematography.

Yeah, I don't know if I did a very good job of explaining that, but if didn't, all the more reason to see this film. It's hard to watch, because it's so real, but that's why it's so amazing. Tom Hanks is excellent, of course, as Captain Miller. He's such a good captain, and yet, you know he's a just a regular guy.

But then there's Giovanni Ribisi.

I might be biased, because I already LOVE Giovanni (pictured below); he's just an amazing actor. But in this movie, there's this one scene, and you'll know the scene I'm talking about when you watch it. For those of you who have already seen it - you know what I mean. He is just so memorable. It gives you nightmares. Giovanni plays Wade, the medic. You just get this chill down your spine when he says 'I could use some ... I could use a little morphine.'

Personally, I could use a little chocolate and a box of tissues. 5 stars.

I FEEL ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!!!!

A certain someone told me that they miss me. And I miss them. So ... that just made my day. :)

February 1, 2010

Grrrr....

Good Morning.

It's 10:30 where I am right now. I had a terrible sleep last night. Maybe it's because I was devastated that Murray lost the final last night without a winning a set. Ho hum.

Anyway, this morning is going well. I have a week left of holidays. I woke up at 8:30, and in two hours I've found three character archetypes for my protagonists of my novel, taken a shower, got some breakfast for me and the cats, watched a video on Kristen's blog, prayed for Katherine and Emily's first day of school, and read some of my new book 'Do Hard Things'.

I must say I'm incredibly glad my parents never sent me to school. If things like buying the right kind of pencil case for school are as drastic as some of my friends make out, I'm glad I didn't go. :)
