Stuff. And Movies.

So, as is typical of me, my blogging has failed again. It's pretty lame that I haven't blogged since I watched The Tree of Life.... So a quick update!

I had an awesome Christmas, and made t-shirts for my family.

I went to Carols in the Domain with some amazing people.

Celebrated NYE with the same amazing people.

And went on a camping weekend with - yeah - those same amazing people. Because they're amazing. And we cooked dinner all by ourselves and were cool.

Anyway! Back to the present. I got on here to blog because I've been reading this gigantic book that I got out of the library called Film History: An Introduction. It's incredibly interesting. I'm reading all about how film became a new medium and expanded into an art form, a method of entertainment, and new way to tell stories. I've decided that as I read through the book I'm going to watch the films from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die that corresponde with the various chapters.

In the first chapter, the main two films mentioned are Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip to the Moon, 1902), and Uncle Tom's Cabin (1903). It's crazy that they started making such elaborate films that early! Full sets and costumes, stop-motion and special effects. If you are interested in movies but have never seen Le Voyage Dans La Lune by George Méliès, you need to jump on the internet and view it on Youtube right now. It only goes for about 11 minutes, so you have. It really is an astounding piece of work for its time. I'm yet to watch Uncle Tom's Cabin, but I plan on doing that today. They use cool techniques like exposing the film twice to add in extra effects. 


And yeah. Hopefully I'll blog again soon but I don't want to make any promises unless I fail, ha. But I'll be back at some point.

The Cave.

Also a wonderful song by Mumford and Sons, but in this case I refer to my bedroom, which is becoming a bit of a cave seeing as I've had to spend so much time cooped up in here, thanks to my injured ankle. But all is good.

It's the last day of April today so I'm endeavoring to at least match the number of posts in March, if not better it.

I spent the better part of my afternoon printing photos and cutting up magazines to cover my wall with bits of lovely. I've finally covered one entire wall. Like whoa. I'm wondering what I'll do once I run out of free space... Here's some photos for you, just because I love this little space in the universe that I call mine :)

And this part of my room has all my favorite things - my kitty, my bed, Coldplay, the best of Marvel (ie Ironman, Spiderman, and X-Men), the Scream trio, and the first glimpse of Carey in The Great Gatsby. I get shivers of delight looking at all the goodness on my walls.

Right. Now I must find out what is on TV tonight and hope that there's nothing tempting so that I can get some writing done :) Tata. Hopefully I'll think of something good to make an 8th blogpost of the month, but if not, I will be back in the early days of May, fear thee not.

So I'm cleaning my room. It's one of those throw-everything-out kind of room cleanings, so I'm going through all the junky drawers and tossing things away/discovering things I forgot I had.

Such as many of the tickets I possess. I subconsciously collect them; they end up in my room and then I keep them. But I've come to notice that tickets are a good thing to collect, as some of mine hold some good memories:

Such as the Ignite Film Festival Awards Night ticket, dated September 6th, 2008. This is where I was when my youth leader's first daughter Evie was born.

The train ticket from my first Youth Surge. I wish I could rewind and experience that night again, or maybe just watch over what happened.

Well good morning.

I'm sitting here in my room on this beautifully rainy day (yes, I'm surprising myself by loving the cold weather); I'm alone but I feel warm and fuzzy and very loved, mostly because of the hot milo I'm drinking and the warm hoodie I'm wearing, but also because I had a wonderful night's sleep, and closed my eyes last night with many a happy thought in my mind.

Anyway ... I'm actually blogging because I found this gorgeous little website yesterday, http://weheartit.com, and I am in love with all the pretty images. I spent a good amount of today and yesterday stealing ones I liked. Here are just a few:

Oh, how I wish they were mine. I wish I'd taken them, I wish I knew the people in them, or knew the story behind them. Which ones do you like best?

16 going on 17

Hello there. It's my birthday in less than two weeks, so I'll finally be able to do magic outside of the school. How exciting :) my friends and I are all going to see the new Alice in Wonderland on the 6th of March. I can't wait!!

Seeing as we're going out to the movies, I'm not expecting any presents from anyone (except my parents..), but a couple people have asked me what I want for my birthday ... sigh.

So, if you're one of those people insistent on getting me a gift, I'm just going to list a couple of things I wouldn't mind getting on my 17th, to help you out. Not to mention that mom reads my blog, so she'll see this list... Hehehe.

- Earrings (studs, preferably, as I'm getting another piercing soon)

- An idea for a novel or a short film. Pretty please? I'm feeling very un-inspired....

There. Haha, now if anyone else asks me, I don't have to stammer and mumble, 'uhh... I don't know...'


Other ridiculously expensive things I wish I could get, but seeing as they are ridiculously expensive I won't be seeing them until a few years after I get a job, and I thought I'd just list them here because I like making lists:
